Week 1 – In which I defied gravity and launched this Baby

‘DEFYING GRAVITY’ – A BIT MUCH, ISN’T IT?

The beta version of my blog on mobile

The beta version of my blog on mobile

You might think ‘defying gravity’ is too pompous a name for a personal project involving 1 challenge per week for a year. And up until very recently I would have agreed with you.

That was before I had to follow instructions sounding something like this:

  • In you subdomain enter the code: ptdq5hhxe63s.defying-gravity.co.uk
  • Now edit your DNS settings, adjust your CNAME and refresh your MX records
  • Next to Alias enter: gv-ml4xutypuwyhis.dv.googlehosted.com
  • Pick a favicon and you are all set!

But in order to live a bolder, spicier, more fulfilled life, I was happy to wade through all this goo and be a role model for my coachees.

IT’S MY PARTY AND I BLOG IF I WANT TO . . .

My beginnings of my launch party

My beginnings of my launch party

So once my website was up and running, my professional Facebook profile established and my Twitter account refreshed– it was time to involve my friends! This year would only be possible with a happy, partying, supporting network of people, who would ever now and then throw a challenge into the mix or get involved in one. So I threw a launch party!

But this wasn’t just any party. This was a ‘Germanically-executed’, speech-and-flipchart-involving affair.  There were great brains in attendance and I wasn’t going to let this chance slip by.

WHAT COULD WE POSSIBLY MAKE HER DO?

There are generally two reactions I observe, when talking about this project.

INITIALLY:                 signs of approval and support, generally through an utterance of ‘this is so cool!’ (or similar)

FOLLOWED BY:         evil grin and world-domination-laugh, desperately trying to figure out what the worst situation is they could send me into

Suffice it to say, - the ideas I gathered at my party were so wonderful, crazy, daunting and hilarious, that I will open a new tab on this site, to capture them all. Please feel free to send me more!

For now all that I have left to say is that I can’t wait to start the year and I am absolutely pumped about this project! (. . . ask me again in April, and we’ll see how I feel).

Here my obligatory three criteria rating:

Tune in next week to hear about my experience of getting onto a soapbox at Speaker’s Corner!

And please don’t forget to leave me a comment about what you would like me to do next!
